1893
Our start
Founded by Remigius Wellen, the Wellen family produced custard powder, baking mixes and baking ingredients under the ‘tewells’ brand, which was well known in Krefeld and far beyond, for over 100 years. The company was passed down from generation to generation with passion and expertise.
1949
Knowledge about the food industry
Thanks to its constant focus on quality, efficiency and innovation, the family-owned company grew in a highly competitive market and continuously expanded its expertise in the food industry.
1994
Entry into the animal feed sector
Gerd Wellen, third-generation owner, bought an extruder from a long-standing business partner, hired five employees, gave the new company the imaginative name ‘RONDO FOOD’ and began producing snacks for dogs and cats.
2001/2003
RONDO FOOD
After leaving the food business in 2001, the Krefeld facility was converted into a pet food production site in several stages. In 2003, RONDO FOOD built a new production facility in Halle (Saale) for production in Saxony-Anhalt.
2022
Foundation of RONDO FOOD America
In July 2022, RONDO FOOD established its own sales company in the USA to be even closer to its American customers and to strengthen cooperation.
Our treat network
The administrative departments are located in Krefeld. We operate in Europe, the USA, Australia and Asia, and we understand the requirements in the various regions. Our quality management is certified according to international standards.
RONDO FOOD Krefeld has been in operation since 2005. This is our primary production site for extruded and co-extruded treats and the headquarters of our administration and sales teams.
PRO PET Austria was founded in 1997. It specialises in the production of high-quality meat-based dog and cat treats. Rupp Austria entered the pet food market in 1975. It specialises in the production of especially tasty dog and cat treats.
RONDO FOOD Halle has been in operation since 1996, and our current production facility was commissioned in 2003. The most important treats from this location include meat strips, meat sticks and dental treats.
RONDO FOOD America was founded in 2022 to meet the specific needs of North American retailers and distributors.

For us, quality isn’t just a buzzword, but a corporate philosophy that we live by. Our comprehensive quality control extends from raw materials to delivery. Our in-house quality control system means that every single product batch is continuously monitored and documented. We’ve been certified according to the BRC standard since February 2008 and according to IFS since April 2009.
